Daylight Savings Time begins 2nd Sunday in March. Set your clocks forward 1 hour.

Daylight Savings Time ends. Set your clocks back one hour the first Sunday of November.
Replenish firewood and check chimney, furnace, and water heater flues.

Recharge or replace fire extinguishers with expired dates.
Check storm windows for any signs of deterioration and make repairs.
Maintain outdoor lighting in working order. Inspect fixtures and outlets for weather damage and replace bulbs.

Remove and clean drain traps under sinks and inspect and clean hair out of pop-up drain plugs.
Inspect grout and caulk around tubs, sinks, and showers. Fix cracked or missing grout. Clean stained or mildewed caulk with tri sodium phosphate.
Reduce or eliminate musty closet odors by washing walls with diluted solution of chorine bleach.
Maintain drawers and doors.
Check security and home automation systems.
April
Replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and garage door openers.
Inspect clothes washing machine and water supply hoses for damage and replace as needed.
Recharge fire extinguishers with expired dates.
Clean garbage disposal with a baking soda and vinegar mixture.
Fertilize lawn, plant, and shrubs and begin seeding and mulching.
During heavy rain, check for ponding by exterior walls which can cause water damage.
June
Clean and seal wood decks.
Inspect and clean chimneys by hiring a certified chimney sweep.
Clean lint from the clothes dryer vent system, from the dryer to the exhaust vent.
Check doors and storm windows for proper operation. Caulk gaps around windows and doors.
Set thermostats and ductwork dampers for summer.
August
Clean condenser coils on the back or underneath the refrigerator.
Check faucets for leaks and replace washers or repair the faucet as needed.
Check water heater for signs of leaks. Flush sediment out of the water heater per manufacturer's instructions.
Clean kitchen range hood. Clean or replace range hood filters.
Seal wood decks and concrete driveways, walks, and patios.
October
Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
Disconnect garden hoses from outside spigots. Move all paints, caulks and liquid materials from garage and garden sheds to a non-freeze location.
Winterize lawn, plants and shrubs. Seed, mulch, and leaf collection.
Inspect weather-stripping around doors and windows. Repair if needed.
Set thermostats and ductwork dampers for winter.
Clean gutters and downspouts throughout the falling leaf season.
Maintain your emergency power generator.
December
Maintain a supply of calcium chloride, magnesium chloride or potassium chloride for ice melting. Avoid salt on concrete.
Check inside bathroom vanities and kitchen sink cabinets for moisture and leaks. Inspect pipes for condensation or slow drips. Repair the plumbing as needed.
Unpack and test all electrical holiday decorations to make sure they function properly.
Inspect weather-stripping around doors and windows. Repair if needed.
Maintain steps and handrails in good shape during snow and ice season.
Maintain and insulate pipes that are susceptible to freezing.
