2021 Kitchen Renovation Trends

04 December 2020

Most of us are spending more time at home than ever before.  If you’ve grown increasingly frustrated with the aesthetics and functionality of your kitchen, 2021 should be the year you do something about it.  Here are the kitchen renovation trends to watch out for in the coming year.

Cabinets: Homeowners will continue to gravitate towards white and gray cabinets.  However, we expect to see a slow shift back towards the appreciation for the aesthetics of natural word.  It’s our prediction that homeowners will continue to embrace variety and will also choose upper and lower cabinets in varied, though complementary color schemes.  The kitchen island will also be thought of as an accent piece within the room, with stained wood and dark blue tones reigning supreme.

Flooring: In one word: laminate.  Before you turn up your nose, understand that we’re not talking the laminate floors that dominated the childhood of Millennials.  Instead, the vinyl flooring of 2021 is LVY (laminate vinyl plank) and LVT (laminate vinyl tile).  Homeowners will be requesting these materials in droves because they’re easy to maintain.  Their vinyl core also is much more resistant to water, allowing these types of floors to hold up longer.  Even better news is the fact that they hold up well in homes with pets.

Countertops: With so many homeowners opting for lighter cabinets, we believe we’ll see darker countertop shades to create balance.  Quartz countertops by Silestone and Cambria will continue to win homeowners over for beauty, durability, and minimal maintenance required. infinity awning window

Metals: When it comes to faucets and drawer pulls, brass will begin their comebacks, but we fully expect to see brushed nickel be the dominating selection.

Backsplash: Backsplashes will continue to be a way to experiment with colors and textures.  White subway tile will still be in vogue but expect to see darker grout used to offset the brightness of the white.  Be on the lookout for popular tile styles to include herringbone, stacked, and brick.

Paint: In 2021, expect to see paint shades in earth tones including warm taupes, beiges, and sand to add accents to kitchens that still utilize a noticeable amount of white.
