One of the most catastrophic storms to hit the Twin Cities in recent memory sent snow plows to the streets in June of 2017 to clear the hail that littered the streets. It wasn’t long before storm chasing contractors descended upon the hardest hit areas going door-to-door in search of work. Mark & Christie had first worked with our company when they’d had us install LeafGuard® Brand Gutters on their home right after it’d been built seven years earlier. Knowing that we are the premier Blaine custom home remodeling company, that could address all of their needs, they chose to work with us to install a new roof, siding, and replace their hail damaged gutters.
Here’s a List of Solutions We Provided for Their Home:
Roofing: While at times it can be difficult for a homeowner to determine if a new roof is needed due to old age or hail damage, in this situation there was no question. Not only was the roof experiencing granule loss, but the roof had numerous holes that had been left by the hail. The prospect of installing a roof with a 50 year, non-prorated warranty on labor and materials sounded appealing to the couple as we discussed their options. This reason was a significant factor when they opted to invest in Timberline® Ultra HD shingles by GAF. The signature trait of this shingle line is their enlarged geometric wood-shake pattern. Wanting to continue in a similar color to their hail damaged roof, they opted for Charcoal. Homeowners that install this shingle appreciate the shingles’ ability to withstand winds of up to 130 mph.
Siding: Once siding becomes damaged by hail, it no longer acts as a protective barrier for the home. Mark & Christine’s siding had taken a beating from high impact hail. Because they were savvy homeowners, they understood that a storm can be the perfect time to evaluate their home’s curb appeal. The couple chose to make significant changes to their seven-year-old home in order to make their property even more alluring. Switching from James Hardie® to a LP® siding installation proved to be the choice that offered substantial peace-of-mind. That’s because LP® SmartSide® offers superior moisture protection and impact resistance. The material can be installed in longer lengths than James Hardie® and is accompanied with a 30 year finish warranty. The color scheme the couple opted for included shades of brown and gray to tie into the home’s roofing and preexisting brickwork. This approach led to a more modern ambiance.
Gutters: Another component of this storm damage restoration project included the replacement of the home’s LeafGuard® Gutters, which had become dented from the hail. LeafGuard®’s patented, one-piece system is the optimum way to filter water away from the home’s foundation and landscaping. The colors selected do the perfect job of providing the look of crown molding on the home.
