Pete & Merilee’s SeasonGuard Window Project in Forest Lake, MN

Homeowners that have wood windows often appreciate their timeless design and ability to enhance a property’s overall aesthetics.  While our clients, Pete and Merilee, cherished their 1990’s era wooden home windows, they recognized that many of them were rotting.  This scenario occurs when moisture repeatedly encounters the window, diminishing its functionality.  In addition, the home’s original windows had been installed in a way that restricted airflow within the home.  Adding to the complexity of the project was the fact that some of Pete and Merilee’s windows were unique geometrical configurations that needed precise measurements in order to ensure a perfect fit.  Here’s why SeasonGuard triple pane windows provided the optimum solution for the 18 custom replacement windows Pete and Merilee’s Forest Lake, MN home needed.

Maintenance: Comprised of vinyl, SeasonGuard windows do not require the frequent cleaning, staining and sealing that wood windows do. Without this continuous and deliberate attention, wood windows are prone to dry rot, mold, and mildew.  SeasonGuard vinyl windows are also an excellent choice for homeowners, such as Pete and Merilee that appreciated the fact that their new windows would not rust, warp, or splinter as several of their wooden ones had.

Learn More About SeasonGuard Windows:

Energy Efficiency: With a total of eighteen windows needing replacement, the couple made energy efficiency a top priority.  When compared with wood windows, SeasonGuard’s energy efficient properties are top-notch.  The window frame is filled with polyurethane foam, giving the window frame an R-value of 7.14.  For a wood window to achieve this R-value, the frame would need to be 16″ deep.

Full Frame Window Installation: Pete and Merilee found it appealing that the craftsmen at Lindus Construction would be utilizing full frame window installation for their SeasonGuard project.  This provided our window installation experts the ability to inspect and address the window’s weatherstripping and insulation.  This was especially important for Pete and Merilee, as many of their home’s original windows were underperforming due to rot and subpar installation.  Full frame window installation also allowed the couple to reimagine the configuration of their windows.  In some areas, smaller windows were consolidated to allow more natural light into their home.  Frame window installation was particularly important for the home’s unique geometrical windows.  This approach ensured the windows fit perfectly, preventing air and water infiltration.

When asked to send us her feedback on her replacement window installation, Merilee sent us the following, “Both Pete and I were extremely happy with the work and the quality of the windows. It was also reassuring to hear the building inspector state he would only consider two contractors to work on his house, and Lindus was one of them! In fact, he has already contracted with you for new siding on his house next summer.”
