Replacement Window Options To Boost Your Home’s Curb Appeal

While there are many ways to enhance your home’s exterior, window replacement rarely gets the recognition it deserves.  This is truly disappointing considering a home’s windows often take up so much of its façade.  Full frame replacement windows can provide a new exterior aesthetic and add personality to a property.  Here are our top strategies for accomplishing this.

Window Style Options

One of the most commonly misunderstood facts about home window replacement is that if that the new window must have the same style as the previous one.  Many times, it makes sense to update the window style used from a beauty and functionality standpoint.  Bay, bow, and garden windows protrude from the home’s exterior, adding interest.  Homeowners looking for expanded views tend to prefer casement and awning windows.  The sashes on double-hung, sliding, and single-hung windows have the capability to add a burst of color.

Upgrade Your Window Trim:

The primary function of window trim is to protect your house windows from air and water infiltration.  However, this doesn’t mean that homeowners can’t get adventurous with window trim in order to inject style on their house’s exterior.  This can include trim that’s a stark contrast to the home’s neutral color siding, but blends in with the property’s gutters and soffits.

Windows with Grilles installed on the front of a home

Consider Window Grilles:

Window grilles separate the glass on the window into panes.  They can be made of wood, vinyl, or metal.  Their purpose is completely decorative.

Experimenting with Glass:

There’s no hard and fast rule that stipulates that the glass in house windows must be transparent.  Many homeowners, especially those in historic homes, gravitate towards stained, frosted, or patterned glass to offer a feeling of opulence.

Geometric Windows:

Specialty shaped windows come in an assortment of configurations including pentagon, octagon, circle, and half-moon.  They add visual interest to the exterior of a home because of their uniqueness.

Shutters:

Another way to increase your home’s curb appeal is through the installation of shutters.  Those with a pop of color are an easy way to make your home stand out in a positive way.

Window Boxes:

Window boxes can also be added just below the sill of the windows at the front of your home.  They can be filled with flowers, plants, and herbs to add an artistic effect.  Window boxes should be situated on lower levels where they can be easily watered from the interior or exterior of your home.

"We live in an old house with old windows, including a large round window on the second floor that was leaking. We searched for 18 months for a company that would replace the round window and had no luck. The response was always that replacing it would be too hard and that they wouldn’t be able to guarantee the work. We were so relieved and happy to finally find Lindus. They replaced the round window and three other problem windows, including an old egress window.  We will definitely use Lindus Construction again for our old house needs."
